Not many restaurants run such promotions on Friday evenings - so we thought we'd give them a whirl.

If you stick with a plain naan or the pilau rice, then you get the deal. If you go for any bread or rice other than the bog standard ones, then they charge you an extra £1. Also, as you can see above, any seafood dish adds a further £2 to the bill.

We all went for the Mixed Kebab (4/5) - two of us thought the Onion Bhajis were a little too doughy and thus heavy, the other thought them very good. The Shami Kebab was very good and very thick in comparison to most of the thin disced tasteless offerings that are often presented. These were obviously homemade, fresh, very meaty and had something about them. The Seekh Kebabs were of excellent quality, homemade, meaty but lacking in spice. I scored the Mixed Kebab 3/5, the Greyhound and Old Ironguts thought them worthy of 4/5.

The mains were all good. Care and thought had gone in to the spicing, with the chillies being cooked in to the dish at an early stage of the process. Chicken Balti (4/5), Chicken Nihari (4/5), Chicken Naga (4/5).

The Naans were good, quite large, not too doughy and heavy, in fact they were quite light with the plain naan being a little crispy in places. The Garlic Naan and Plain Naan were heavily coated in butter, which made ones fingers quite greasy - not a huge complaint and manageable.

I'd be happy to go to the foot of these stairs anyday.

We recommend Cardamom Lounge.

It's no surprise that they have an FSA rating of 5 - the interior has recently had a refit in a very pleasant contemporary style. Toilets are great and the staff were very warm and friendly.

The Black Bull at Stairfoot was our chosen watering hole, where we enjoyed a few pints of one of Wadworth's seasonal beers... Dirty Rucker (Rugby 5 Nations). Decent.
